Notice of Motion to alter the name of the organisation to better represent its aims.
During our recent activities with Places Victoria, Melbourne Water, the State Government, Museums Australia and heritage architects it has become increasingly apparent that not only is the name of the organisation too long and cumbersome to use, it does not reflect either the current or proposed activities of the group.
Last year the AGM voted on a name change that did not get accepted by the Department of Justice so we are again proposing a change to reflect current thinking.
We have begun the process of becoming an accredited museum. With this in mind we feel the word “restoration” is no longer relevant as most of that phase of our work is nearing completion and future projects will be replicas, not restorations.
Again, we feel that “fund” is not relevant.
A name change was debated at Committee of Management meetings and a more suitable name was suggested.
If accepted at the 2014 AGM the proposed name change will be submitted to the Department of Justice for ratification.
I move that the name of the organisation be changed to “B-24 Liberator Memorial Australia Inc.”
Moved by: Judith Gilbert, seconded by Cyril Curtain
Notice of Motion: to accept the revised B-24 Constitution
During our activities to secure a long term lease on the hangar and surrounding land it became obvious that we would need to modernise our Constitution to address the changing responsibilities of our organisation.
The core of the changes reflect the Model Rules from the Department of Justice, Consumer affairs.
These Model Rules were examined and were subjected to minor alterations to reflect our planned future activities.
The sub-committee driving the changes submitted the revised B-24 Constitution to the Committee of Management for comment and acceptance. This was achieved at the August meeting.
Copies of the Constitution were then made available on request to all members with the information that a motion to accept the new Constitution would be put to the 2014 Annual General Meeting.
If accepted at that meeting the Constitution will be submitted to the Department of Justice for ratification.
I move that the revised B-24 Constitution be accepted by the B-24 members.
Moved: Dave Miller, seconded by Ron Taaffe
Birthday Party
A72-176 turns 70 on 28th September 2014 so we are celebrating.
The hangar will be open on that Sunday from 9.30 to 4.30 & we are planning lots of activities:
- Guided tours
- Engine runs
- Displays of the Norden & radar
- Turret displays
- Morning/afternoon teas
- Sausage sizzle
- Display by a military re-enactment group
There will be a short formal ceremony at 12.30 then we’ll cut the birthday cake.
We hope you will be able to visit us on that day to share this important occasion & talk to the restorers who have spent so many years on this project.
